Why You Should Avoid Writing "Preview" on Your TPT Product Images

Oct 28, 2024

Stop Hiding Your Teachers Pay Teachers (TPT) Products!

As a TPT seller, one of my biggest pet peeves is seeing “preview” plastered across product images in covers, thumbnails, and previews. I get it—many sellers use this strategy to protect their hard work from being screenshot or copied. However, it often does more harm than good.

When potential buyers see a big “preview” label, it obscures the quality and details of your product. The purpose of including images is to give buyers a glimpse of how your resource can fit into their classrooms and benefit their students. If they can’t see what they’re buying, they’re less likely to make a purchase.

Why Images Matter

Strong visuals play a crucial role in attracting buyers. They allow potential customers to envision how your resource will be used, which can be the difference between a sale and a missed opportunity. Product images should highlight the unique aspects of your resource and provide a clear idea of its value.

Creative Alternatives to “Preview”

Instead of using “preview” to protect your product images, consider these creative alternatives:

Overlap Images: Layer multiple images to showcase different aspects of your resource without completely obscuring it. This technique creates visual interest while allowing buyers to see the content.

Tilt Images: Presenting images at an angle can draw attention and make your listing more dynamic. It’s a simple way to keep buyers engaged while still displaying your product.

Enlarge Sections: Focus on key parts of your resource by enlarging specific sections. This highlights important details while leaving some elements to the buyer’s imagination, encouraging them to learn more.

Let Your Products Shine

By avoiding the “preview” label and using creative presentation techniques, you can showcase your products effectively. Strong visuals not only enhance your listings but also help build trust with potential buyers. Remember, the goal is to let your resources shine so that they can attract the attention they deserve.

The Importance of Image Size

In addition to how you present your images, the size matters, too. Small images can make it difficult for buyers to see the details, so ensure your product images are large enough to provide a clear view. This allows buyers to appreciate the quality of your resource and understand its full value.
