How to Create Teachers Pay Teachers Resources That Sell
Dec 30, 2024When I first started my Teachers Pay Teachers journey, I felt overwhelmed and unsure about what to create. I spent countless hours scrolling through other sellers’ shops, hoping to find the perfect resource that everyone else was raving about. It was frustrating! I soon realized I was completely missing the mark.
I realized that it was pointless to look at the best sellers from other stores and try to do something similar. If the product is already a best seller in someone else's TPT store, or multiple stores, then I don't have a good chance of creating a similar product and having it be sold.
So that's where I get this question... and I seriously get asked this all the time: “What are the best resources to create that will sell the fastest and the most?”
Here’s my honest answer: the resources that sell best on TPT are the ones you are already creating for your own students.

Why Create for Your Own Classroom?
When you craft resources with your own classroom in mind, you infuse them with value, care, and authenticity. Often, you create these resources to tackle specific problems you've encountered in your teaching. If you’re facing a problem, there’s a good chance other teachers are experiencing the same challenge!
Consider this: if you can develop a resource to solve a challenge in your classroom, chances are other educators are actively searching for that solution on TPT.
When they come across your resource, they’ll likely think, "Yes! This is EXACTLY what I need!" That’s when you start to build your reputation as the go-to seller for solving that problem.
Building a Reputation
Once you establish yourself in this niche, you’ll see repeat customers coming back for more. It's a powerful way to grow your business!
To get started, I encourage you to make a list of the common "problems" you encounter in your classroom. What resources have you created to address those challenges? This exercise can help you map out a product line that resonates with other teachers facing similar issues.
